Financial Support given by St Saviour’s Church
Every year the church supports a number of charities from general church funds.
In 2018 through church funds we supported;
‘’Us’’– the new name for United Society for the Propagation of the Gospel (USPG)
The Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge (SPCK )
Guernsey Deanery Clergy Widows Fund
St Anne’s Hospital Liuli in Tanzania
St Luke’s Healthcare (Hospital for the Clergy)
During each calendar year there are several other special collections at Christmas or during Lent or at the time of an overseas disaster. In the past year St Saviour’s has supported through special collections the following:
Lent Collection 2018: In aid of The Tumaini Fund. This raised a wonderful £1,663 to buy sewing machines. This sum would buy 24 machines !
Collections at Concerts: Various local charities chose by the performing artists
Christmas collections at services : DEC Indonesian Tsunami Appeal and Guernsey Cheshire Homes
Collection at Confirmation Service:Les Bourgs Hospice, Guernsey and Canterbury DBF
Collection at Rembrance Services:Royal British Legion
Collections at Tea on Tuesday, Sunday Club :The Tumaini Fund
2019 Lent appeal was in aid of Abolitionist Guernsey and raised £1,090 to help end slavery in Northern India.
