Mark Charmley

Reverend

Mark has been Rector of St Saviours Church since 2010 when he moved here from Banbury with his wife Tracy and children Jonathan and Sophie.

Mark is also Rector of Torteval Church and is often seen running out of church to jump in his car and race off (within the speed limit of course) to do services there too.

Mark enjoys his work, he particularly likes visiting people at home and sampling their tea and biscuits. He enjoys spending time with people at key moments in their lives, planning and leading christenings, weddings and even funerals services.

For Mark his work with young people gives an outlet for his humour, energy and creativity – he likes to try all sorts. Assemblies in school, holiday clubs and especially the Ignite Youth Group (11-18’s) and Le Voyage (18-30’s) are where Mark is at his happiest, despite reaching the grand age of 50 he is still young at heart, and passionate about encouraging the young people to grow in their faith.

When not working Mark likes to walk the lanes or potter in his garden growing fruit and vegetables – he’s not keen on flowers as you can’t eat them.
